Meet Our Founder: Soke Isoharu Watanabe

Early Life and Initial Training

Born on April 1, 1939, in Osaka, Japan, Soke Isoharu Watanabe’s journey into martial arts began at an early age. In 1955, he earned a 2nd Dan in Judo and started his study of Goju-Ryu Karate, a traditional Japanese martial art known for its blend of hard and soft techniques.

Karate Training and Contributions

Under the guidance of masters Tomoharu Kisaki and Eiichi Miyazato, Soke Watanabe honed his Goju-Ryu skills. In 1978, he founded the Goju-Ryu Shinbu-kan Dojo in Osaka, creating a dedicated space for Goju-Ryu Karate. His exploration into Chen-style Taichi Chuan further enriched his martial arts expertise.

Achievements and Recognitions

Soke Watanabe’s exceptional skill and dedication were recognized with several prestigious titles. Notably, he was awarded the 9th Dan in Goju-Ryu in 1995. His contributions extended to Shinto Jinenryu Bujutsu and international training roles, including serving as Chairman of the Jordan Karate National Team and providing defense training to the Paraguayan National Police.

In 2010, Soke Watanabe founded the World Gojuryu Karate Association Watanabe Ha, marking a significant milestone in his martial arts career. His leadership continues to promote and preserve Goju-Ryu Karate’s traditions while integrating modern practices.

Spotlight on Soshihan Mehul Vora

Early Training and Foundations

Soshihan Mehul Vora embarked on his martial arts journey in 1981 with Okinawa Gojuryu Karate-do. His diverse training extended to Judo and Boxing, showcasing his commitment and skill. By 1994, he had achieved national gold medals in both Kata and Kumite.

Achievements and Recognition

Vora’s accomplishments include numerous black belts and notable awards, such as being named Best Martial Arts Instructor of the Year in 1999. His contributions also include choreographing for Bollywood star Akshay Kumar and training in Israeli military self-defense systems.

Global Influence

Vora’s influence spans globally, with significant achievements such as breaking Guinness World Records and leading Team India to international Kudo championships. His appointment as Secretary of the World Gojuryu Karate Association Watanabe Ha in 2024 and awarding of the 9th Dan black belt by Soke Watanabe further underscore his exceptional leadership and dedication.
